Local Girl Scout Earns Highest Award

CHARLESTON, WEST VIRGINIA—One Charleston Girl Scout has received the highest honor a Girl Scout can achieve: The Gold Award.
Nola Todd, an Ambassador in the Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council, developed a project to address the pressures placed on high school students. Through her project, Working Towards Working Less: How to Actually Be Productive in a World Focused on Being "Busy," Todd provided information on how young adults can cope with stress through rest and balance.
Todd also created a social media account, as well as a presentation at her high school to share the information with more than 75 young adults.
By earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, Todd has become a community leader. Her accomplishments reflect leadership and citizenship skills that set her apart.
"Earning the Girl Scout Gold Award is truly a remarkable achievement, and Nola exemplifies leadership in all its forms," said Beth Casey, chief executive officer of the Girl Scouts of Black Diamond.
"She saw a need in her community and took action. Her extraordinary dedication, perseverance and leadership is making the world a better place."
