Are you a Girl Scout Senior or Ambassador ready to take the next step toward becoming a Girl Scout camp counselor? Join us for a hands-on Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Weekend designed to introduce you to the skills, responsibilities, and leadership mindset needed to work with younger campers and become a future camp staff member.
During this weekend, participants will explore what it means to be a CIT, learn how to be a positive role model, practice leading songs and games, develop teamwork and communication skills, learn camp safety and emergency expectations, and discover how to create a welcoming and inclusive camp community.
Participants will also practice real-world camp scenarios, learn about working with different age groups, explore professional expectations and boundaries, and begin building their personal toolbox of activities they can use with younger Girl Scouts.
This weekend is all about learning by doing-with plenty of opportunities to practice, make mistakes, receive feedback, and grow as a leader.
CIT Training will focus on:
Understanding the role and expectations of a CIT
Becoming a positive role model for younger campers
Camp safety, emergency procedures, and responsibility
Professionalism, communication, and boundaries
Working as part of a camp team
Understanding different camper age groups
Leading songs, games, and simple camp activities
Problem-solving and managing challenges
Building an inclusive camp community
Self-care, time management, and personal responsibility
Reflection, goal setting, and preparing for future camp employment
Come ready to participate, lead, learn, and have FUN!
This weekend serves as an introduction and training experience for CIT participants. Completion of this weekend does not by itself represent completion of the full GSUSA CIT 1 program requirements.
***The "Trailblazer Winter Outdoor Cooking Challenge" event is included in the CIT weekend activities.***
Important to Know Before You Go
- Please plan for your Girl Scout to attend the entire event. We are unable to issue refunds for partial event attendance.
- This is a drop off event! We will have Girl Scout Staff and Volunteers on hand to supervise and assist Girl Scouts. We are unable to accommodate parents, siblings or friends who want to stay.
- Does your Girl Scout need additional support or assistance? Please use the "Special Circumstances" box to share with us what we can do to make this day comfortable and enjoyable for your Girl Scout!
- New flex pay option from Girl Scouts of Black Diamond- Register for events with $0 up front! Make payments on your event as you are able to up until 11:59pm Friday, January 15th, 2027. Once registered for this event, you are responsible for registration fees regardless as to whether you attend unless you cancel you no later than Friday, January 15th, 2027 at 11:59pm.
