Outdoor Weekend Leadership Skills (OWLS) 2026 is an immersive
training and fellowship weekend designed especially for Girl Scout
adult volunteers who want to grow their outdoor leadership confidence,
skills, and certifications while enjoying camp community and
fun.
This hands-on weekend offers a wide variety of
training options allowing participants to build skills at their own
pace. Course choices include:
Archery, First Aid/CPR, Navigation
& Orienteering, Fire Building & Outdoor Cooking, Basic Hiking,
Intro to Backpacking, Camping Out Activity Specialist,
Train-the-Trainer and self-guided stations featuring crafts and basic
knots.
The weekend begins Friday evening with
registration, camp ceremonies, and a social hour campfire. Saturday is
packed with learning sessions, outdoor skill development, and shared
meals in the dining hall. Participants choose sessions that fit their
interests and goals, making each OWLS experience unique. Saturday
evening includes continued programming and an overnight camping option
for those completing Camping Out Activity Specialist training. Sunday
wraps up with additional sessions and lunch to-go.
OWLS
is ideal for both new and experienced volunteers looking to expand
their outdoor credentials, learn from skilled instructors, and connect
with fellow Girl Scout leaders from across the council.
