Jennifer Brown

Director of Community Engagement

Jennifer Brown is the Director of Community Engagement and is responsible for all internal and external communications including press releases, press conferences and promotion of all events within the Council.  Her goal is to increase girl and adult membership and to promote volunteerism in the communities that we serve, as well as, bringing awareness to the community about the Girl Scout experience and how it benefits our female leaders of tomorrow.   Partnering with business leaders across the state, Jennifer believes we can all make a difference in the lives of young women in our communities and equip them with the skills that will be beneficial to their success as an adult.

Jennifer attended WV Junior College, has over 20 years of sales experience and has networked on a local, regional and national level for many years.  She has two grown sons, Justin, 22 and Dylan, 19 and a 7 month old granddaughter, Jada.  In her spare time she likes to spend time with family, travel and has always had a love for reading.

Debby Kemmerling

Community Engagement Manager, Region 3

As the Community Engagement Manager, Debby’s primary job duties are to develop and increase girl and adult membership and promote the image of Girl Scouting in the community, as well as increase the visibility of this premier leadership program.  As a part of the Southern Regional team, she helps to recruit, retain and support girls and adult volunteers.  With their passion for Girl Scouts, the Southern Regional team strives to ensure all girls have a chance to be a Girl Scout and all adult volunteers have a chance to use their skills and gifts to successfully lead and provide for girls.

With a BS in Horticulture from VA Tech, she worked in the horticulture industry before taking time to raise a family of three children and be a Girl Scout leader to her two daughters.  As a Girl Scout in her youth and 12 years as a leader, it was a natural next step to work with the Black Diamond Girl Scouts professionally as she has done since 2009.

In her spare time, Debby enjoys gardening, spending time with family and friends, reading, and anything that involves creating--pottery, painting, food and other creative arts.  As their kids move off to college, Debby and her husband, Chris plan on backpacking in the WV high country, traveling when possible and enjoying time on their little bit of paradise in the heart of West Virginia.
