Jumpstart to Troop Leadership

Would you like to have more information to help enrich your troop’s Girl Scout experience but do not have the time to attend another meeting? Join us for our volunteer enrichment training webinars! These one-hour webinars cover topics that are at the top of troop leaders’ lists of concerns. Not only will you be able to receive information from a Girl Scouts of Black Diamond trainer and/or employee, but you will also be able to network with other leaders to share tips and successes.

Managing Troop Finances

 
As a new troop leader, you are sure to have questions about troop finances. How do you open a bank account? Who needs to be on the troop checking account? What can your troop do to earn money? Get answers to these questions and more on our Managing Troop Finances webinar. Our Chief Financial officer will be on hand to guide you through the jungle of troop finances. This webinar is recommended for all new troop leaders, co-leaders, troop treasurers, and any other volunteer responsible for handling troop funds.

Join us for a Troop Online Re-Registration explanation and demonstration.  We will discuss the basics of account creation, re-registration of your troop members, incentives, deadlines and more.  There will be an opportunity to ask questions about Spring registration and specifically using online registration for quick and easy 2015 membership renewal!

Trip and Camp Process


Every girl deserves a chance to see the world. Girl Scouts offers many different travel opportunities so girls can see new places, meet new people, and learn about different cultures and ideas. Whether exploring their own neighborhoods, going on overnight camping trips, participating in community service projects, or flying to one of the four world centers, Girl Scouts are continually expanding their horizons. Learn the process of developing a trip or a camping trip. Staff and volunteers will teach you how to budget, complete forms and the GSBDC process for a trip or a camp experience.

Outdoor Certification Training Opportunities

OWLS: Outdoor Weekend Learning Spectacular!

Join other volunteers for a weekend full of fun, educational outdoor activities! This Outdoor Weekend Learning Spectacular is perfect for anyone who is interested in learning a few outdoor skills. Whether you want to become an outdoor trainer or just want to learn more so you can safely take your girls camping, this conference is for you.
 
Day Camp Coordinators, Event Coordinators, and Event Pathway Consultants will also greatly benefit from this weekend training experience. You can choose to come for a weekend getaway, or just come for a day to bone up on outdoor skills, making new friends and even come for rejuvenation. Simply select your favorite activities from our diverse lineup of workshops. 
 
Price: $40 for the entire weekend; $25 for ½ of the weekend or less.
Price includes meals, lodging and training materials.

Basic Archery


Attend a specialized training for the Basic Archery Certification. Adults will learn the basics of archery, how to instruct girls in the sport, and safety regulations during the course. Attendees do not have to have prior archery experience; however, they must be at least 18 years of age. Adults will have an opportunity to become certified as an archery instructor upon successful completion of the course and at the recommendation of the course instructor.

Camping Out


Do you want to take girls camping in the great outdoors? This course gives you the knowledge and skills to camp in a tent, cook meals over an open fire, and practice Leave No Trace camping techniques. You will learn to appreciate the outdoors and pass the love of nature on to the girls.Camping In is a prerequisite for Camping Out. This self-study can be downloaded by clicking here. Successful completion of this course and recommendation from the course instructor will result in certification in Camping Out, Outdoor Cooking and Fire Building certifications.

Canoe Activity Specialist Certification


Demonstrate your skill in the basics of canoeing during this session in order to get your Canoe Activity Specialist certification. In addition, you will get some pointers on how best to teach children and find out about safety activity checkpoints related to this aquatic sport during this course. Participant’s skills will be evaluated as to whether they are ready to take youth groups out canoeing after taking this course.

Project Wet Certification Workshop


Engaging… motivating… fun... interactive…and activity-oriented. 
 
Project WET is an interdisciplinary water education program that provides hands-on activities through training workshops. The activities incorporate important environmental lessons into all disciplines including the sciences, mathematics, fine arts, social studies, language arts, and music. They are perfect for use in formal and informal settings.
 
By attending a workshop, you will experience several activities of the Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide from a student’s perspective. The workshops are FREE, and participants will receive a book which is filled with hands-on, interactive, standards-based water education activities grades  K-12.

First Aid/CPR training


To be able to take your troop/group away from the normal meeting place, someone in the troop must be certified in First Aid/CPR. Join us for a fun, educational First Aid/CPR training provided by a certified American Heart Association facilitator. The training provides certification in both First Aid and CPR that is good for two years.
