Girl Scouts of Black Diamond (GSBDC) currently serves nearly 15,000 girls with the help of over 4,000 adult volunteers in 61 counties within WV, MD, OH and VA. We invest approximately $220.00 per girl, per year, in order to adequately serve each one of them. As our membership continues to grow, so does the need for financial resources to fund the invaluable opportunities that we offer these young girls.
While a large part of our budget is funded through our Cookie Sales Program, we also need public support, both through individual donations and corporate contributions, in order to ensure our programs thrive and serve as many girls as possible.
An investment in Girl Scouts is broader than a cause or a cure -- it's a commitment to a generation. Leadership experiences for girls are what makes Girl Scouting unique. Just imagine what an entire generation of girls will do, given the confidence, the skills and the experience they need to lead.
We rely on the generosity of our Girl Scout friends for charitable contributions which enable our council to:
- keep our program relevant and activity fees modest to all girls,
- provide leader training to our adult volunteers,
- maintain and update council properties and camps, and
- provide creative program experiences with girls in a safe and nurturing environment.
Through Girl Scouts, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.
