Take the Journeys to Day Camp

You don’t have to leave the Journeys behind when you go to day camp, even if your day camp is indoors or in a small city park. Take the Journeys to Day Camp gives you tips on how to incorporte the Journeys into your summer day camp program.

Day Camp Fliers

Templates for Day Camp fliers are provided in order to create a uniform and professional appearance for all communications of Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council. If you choose to create a fllier on your own to advertise your Day Camp, it must be approved by the Gir Scouts of Black Diamond Council Communications Department before it can be submitted for printing.
 

Day Camp Manual

Day Camps provide a valuable opportunity for girls to experience the Girl Scout Program. Through Day Camp, girls have a safe, fun and enjoyable learning experience while sharing the beauty and wonderments of the outdoors. Day Camp Forms

Day Camp Directors are responsible for submitting the appropriate paperwork necessary to conduct a day camp. Listed below are the forms necessary to conduct a successful day camp experience for girls.
 

Forms Due BEFORE Day Camp is Conducted

  • Intent to Operate a Day Camp & Tentative Budget (submit online) - This report provides preliminary information regarding the day camp plans. This report can be downloaded or submitted online. This form is due to GSBDC no later than March 15th.
  • Day Camp Promotion Information Form (submit online) - GSBDC will provided a limited supply of fliers for day camps to promote the event. This form is due to GSBDC no later than March 15th.
  • Outdoor Program Equipment Checkout Form - The Outdoor Program Equipment Checkout Form is used to request equipment for Day Camp such as tents, Dutch ovens, stoves, etc. Please allow 6 - 8 weeks for processing the request.
  • Training Attendance Form - The Training Attendance Form is used to record attendance at day camp staff trainings. Send completed form to GSBDC after training.
  • Equipment Inventory Report Form - The Equipment Inventory Report Form is used to record any equipment owned by the day camp or service unit for insurance purposes. The form must be sent before the camp occurs.
  • Volunteer Application and Reference Forms - Day Camp staff should be registered members of GSUSA, unless hiring an outside consultant or specialist.

GSBDC will provide day camps with printed materials that are kept in stock, such as badge records. Complete the as materials are needed.


Forms Used DURING Day Camp

  • First Aid Report - The First Aid Report is used to document any injuries sustained during day camp. The form should be completed by the First-Aider on staff and sent to GSBDC immediately after camp. The form should be sent for every camp that occurs, even if there were no injuries.
  • Incident Report Form - The Incident Report Form reports any incident that compromises the health and safety of the girls as well as the program itself.
  • Camp Staff Evaluation - The Camp Staff Evaluation is used to determine the success of the day camp and can be used to plan for next years event. The staff evaluations should be retained by the Day Camp Director and/or MDC.
  • Camp Staff Agreement - The Camp Staff Agreement Form is optional and can be used to clearly state the expectations and responsibilities for camp staff. This form is retained by the Day Camp Director and/or MDC.
  • Unit Requisition Form - The Unit Requisition Form is optional and can be used by each unit to request materials that are needed from the day camp staff.
  • Attendance Form - The Attendance Report Form is optional and can be used to record daily attendance.


Forms Used AFTER Day Camp

Forms need to be submitted to GSBDC within two weeks of camp.
  • Day Camp Finance & Balance Report (submit online)- This report is used to recap the expenses of the day camp. This report can be downloaded or submitted online. It should be sent to GSBDC no later than two weeks after the Day Camp is completed.
  • Day Camp Director's Report (submit online) - This form is completed by the Day Camp Director and is an evaluation of the Day Camp. This report can be downloaded or submitted online. The report should be completed no later than two weeks after the Day Camp is completed.
