Patch Programs

In addition to Council’s Own Awards and Program Kits, Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council has developed a variety of activity guides for girls, many with participation patches available for purchase for girls to recognize their efforts in learning about the topic.  The activity guides can be done in a troop setting or completed individually by the girl, working with her family.  Most activity guides can be downloaded from our website.  To request a copy of the guide email program@bdgsc.org.

The following Activity Guides are available:

This series of five guides challenges girls to explore science and mathematics in daily life. All activities are grounded in traditional rural culture. Girls come to honor their community’s traditional knowledge by investigating the science and mathematics embodied in practices such as food preservation and quilting. The sections may be done in any order, with a patch available for each section completed. There is also a program kit available to assist the troop with the activities.  To request a copy of the booklet, please email program@bdgsc.org.

A Special Patch is Available!

Not just a program, but a state of mind. S.M.A.R.T. stands for Science Making A Remarkable Transformation. That transformation comes when girls realize that they can achieve beyond the stereotypes that girls are not capable in the areas of math and science, and it helps to install a sense of pride and accomplishment. The S.M.A.R.T. Girls program is about taking a scientific concept and making it fun to learn and easy to understand, in an environment where girls feel encouraged to explore.  Download the S.M.A.R.T.
