Follow the Leader

Follow the Leader is an adult information packet that has been created to give leaders ideas of fun girl scout activities to do during troop meetings. The packet was created to assist new leaders, whether new to girl scouting or to a different age-level, as well as experienced leaders that may be looking for new ideas. For each month, there are a variety of activities for each age-level of girl scouting.  The activities include songs, swaps, crafts, games, and ceremonies.  We hope that this information packet will be helpful for everyone!

Activities for Girl Scouts:

Can you bring the crowd to tears with your ceremony?  Have a great craft?  Know of a really great swap?  Are you famous for the songs you sing at camp?  Share your great idea with others by emailing us at program@bdgsc.org.  We will update Follow the Leader with new great ideas from our great volunteers!

Bridging Tips & Ideas

Tips and ideas to help girls bridge to the next level of Girl Scouting!

Girl Scout Challenge Award
The Girl Scout Challenge is a new set of awards for Brownie Girl Scouts, Junior Girl Scouts, and Girl Scouts 11-17.  These awards are a part of a national effort to create a consistent, national Girl Scout experience.  The awards unite girls across the nation by age-level, engaging them in similar learning experiences.  When girls take the Challenge, they explore some of the values and leadership skills that are at the very heart of Girl Scouting: courage, confidence, character, and the ability and desire to make the world a better place. Download the Girl Scout Challenge Award booklet.

Approved Companies for Program Activities

Each year troops around the council visit local and regional parks and stables.  It is important that these facilities have the proper insurance.  If you are taking your troop or group on a trip, please check this list to be sure that the destination is a covered facility and/or the bus line is also covered.  If you wish to use a facility not on this list, please contact Roberta Richmond at (304)345-7722 or roberta.richmond@bdgsc.org to see if they meet the necessary specifications.  Click here to see the Approved Companies list.

uniquely ME! Guide for Facilitators

This is now available for download. All curriculum for the promised grades levels are now available (Junior, Cadette, Senior) along with their supplemental handouts. Contact Susan Smith at (304) 345-7722 if you need additional materials or information.

Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.
This is a fun filled booklet with activities that will help girls learn about Dr. King and the impact he had on society. The facilitator's guide includes lesson plans, worksheets, and activities that provide knowledge and will show the girls that being different and unique is ok. This packet can be use for Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday on January 19th or for Black History month in February.
