Olympic Gymnast Dominique Dawes to Speak At Building Futures Luncheon
Join Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council and Olympic champion Dominique Dawes at a fund raising luncheon May 6, 2008. You may choose to attend the luncheon in person in Charleston, W.Va., or participate via a satellite link in Wheeling, W.Va.
Olympic Gold Medalist Dominique Dawes burst into the international spotlight in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, and was the first African American gymnast to ever qualify and compete in the Olympic Games. Dominique has won more National Championship medals than any other athlete, male or female, since 1963, as well as numerous World Championship medals.
Dominique’s talents are not limited to gymnastics. Her broadcasting skills have allowed her to commentate for a number of gymnastic events on TNT, CBS Sports, Fox Sports Net, and CNN. She also is becoming a renowned public speaker, often focusing on health issues, sports participation, equality, and self-esteem.
The luncheon will be at the Marriott Town Center in Charleston, W.Va., beginning at Noon, May 6. Tickets for the Charleston event are $150 each.
A luncheon will also be conducted simultaneously at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Wheeling. W.Va. The entire Charleston presentation will be shown via satellite in Wheeling. Tickets to the Wheeling luncheon are $75.
