Appalachian Heritage Guide–for J, C, S, A grade levels
Celebrate the rich culture and traditions of the Appalachian region. The activity guide is divided into four sections: culture and folklore; life skills; arts and crafts; and civic leadership. Girls will have the opportunity to sample crafts, play games, and create their own art projects in each section. You might also consider doing some of the activities from the VOICES kits with this guide.
Mammalicious Guide/Kit
(Kit Rental Fee is $7.00/deposit $25.00 required)- for D, B, J, C, S, A grade levels
This kit is designed to introduce girls to the world of land mammals, identifying their tracks, learning about their habitats and way of life and encouraging girls to help protect wildlife. Please try the activities we have included in the kit, but don’t stop there, let your imagination build upon what we have included in the kit. The kit contains several interesting items needed to complete the activities such as, animal track molds, Nature Watch cards, tracks and scat signs as well as mixing bowls, spoons and measuring cups.
95 Ways to Explore the Outdoors Guide/Kit
(Kit $5.00 rental fee / deposit of $25.00 required) – for D, B, J, C, S, A grade levels
The 95 Ways to Explore the Outdoors program back pack kit offers many ideas to get girls excited about the outdoors! Items in this kit include field guides, magnifying glasses, and bug viewing boxes. Activities list things anywhere from making and identifying tracks to creating an ad campaign to save endangered species. The girls will discover what the outdoors has to offer, connect through hands-on activities and take action to save animals and nature.
ODEE the Otter Guide–for B, J, C grade levels
Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council would like to introduce you to our outdoor mascot ODEE the Otter. ODEE invites you to venture outdoors to discover, explore and experience! ODEE works to connect girls to the outdoors and teach them about their natural environment.
Incredible Insects Guide–for B, J grade levels
Girls will learn about insects in fun ways, such as through games, artwork, skits, and snacks. Girls will learn about the body parts of insects, how to safely capture insects, study them and release them back to their environment, and learn to distinguish harmful from harmless insects.
Molly the Manatee Guide-for B, J, C grade levels
ODEE would like to introduce girls to her friend, Molly the Manatee. Girls will learn all about manatees, their eating habits, environment, and the dangers they face. As part of the guide, girls will sample activities on water pollution, nautical terms, myths and legends of the sea, and how to be safe on the water. They will also learn about Leave No Trace and Linking Girls to the Land programs.
Zink Goes to Camp Guide-for B, J, C, S, A grade levels
Can you imagine a camp where all the campers and staff lived and worked in peace and harmony? Can you imagine a camp were everyone felt accepted and respected? Can you imagine the excitement campers will feel when they learn that being different makes you special? Let "Zink Goes to Camp" make these goals a reality!
Feathered Friends Guide/Kit (Coming Spring of 2011)

Meet Rocky Robin the new mascot for Camp Rocky Ledges. This guide and supplemental kit will be available at all Black Diamond camps in time for spring bird watching season. This guide/kit contains everything you will need to learn more about our feathered friends through crafts, puzzles and games. Included in the kit are binoculars to do your own bird watching and field guides to help you indentify the birds you see. Rocky the Robin is the mascot for Camp Rocky Ledges. This is the first in a series of camp mascot kits that will reside at all the camps. This kit is only available to troops/groups while they are at one of our council camps.

Aquaculture-for B, J, C, S, A grade levels
As part of this one-of-a-kind Council’s Own, developed in partnership with many outside agencies specializing in aquatic life, girls will explore the many different varieties of aquatic life native to our area.
Archery Skills –for C, S, A grade levels
Using this special Council’s Own patch requirement designed especially for Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors, girls will learn about the equipment, skills, procedures and safety related to the sport of archery.
Canoe Crusaders –for J, C, S, A grade levels
Girls will learn about the joy of canoeing on the open flat water! While doing these Council’s Own activities, designed especially for Girl Scout Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors. Girls will learn about water safety including how to prevent capsizing and swamping canoes and how to handle it if it does happen.
Weather Wise-for B, J grade levels
Using these special Council’s Own patch requirements, designed especially for Girl Scout Brownies, girls will learn about the various aspects of weather such as weather instruments, safety, flags and other symbols.

Get with the Land (Linking Girls to the Land) Patch-for J, C, S, A grade levels
Linking Girls to the Land (LGTTL) is an interagency partnership between GSUSA's Elliott Wildlife Values Project and federal natural resource agencies. This partnership works toward giving every girl an opportunity to participate in conservation and outdoor programs. LGTTL encourages partnerships between Girl Scouts and federal natural resource agency representatives on local and national levels to offer more joint conservation and outdoor projects to 2.8 million girls across the country. By earning this patch, girls will learn about the Linking Girls to the Land partnership, work side by side with a federal or state natural resource agency professional and choose an environmental project or activity in which to participate or complete.

Trees for the 21st Century-for B, J, C, S, A grade levels
This easy-to-use tree planting and education toolkit from ERTHNXT connects children and young people to the wonders of trees and the outdoors. Includes science-based activities designed for adults working with children and youth ages 6 to 18. As the children learn why and how to plant trees, activities reinforce the value and importance of ongoing care and encourage youth stewardship.

Water Drop Patch-for B, J, C, S, A grade levels
This project was jointly developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital (GSCNC). The purpose of the project is to encourage girls to:
- Make a difference in their communities by becoming watershed and wetlands stewards.
- Use their skills and their knowledge to educate others in their community about the need to protect the nation's valuable water resources.
- Explore the natural world to gain an interest in science and math.

Native Plants Patch for Girl Scouts-B, J, C, S, A grade levels
This program encourages partnerships between Girl Scouts and local National Garden Clubs to teach Girl Scouts about native plants in their area. Girl Scouts of all age levels are eligible to earn this patch.
