Occasionally, other organizations will offer special pricing and programming opportunities to the Girl Scout troops in our council, but the time frame and cost will not allow for mailing information to our leaders. These opportunities will be listed here. Be sure to check back on a regular basis.
Channel Islands Adventure:
What: The Channel Islands Adventure is a travel opportunity (destination) where Girl Scouts ages 14 -18 come together to explore the "Galapagos of North America" - Channel Islands National Park. This unique island chain hosts over 400 species of plants and animals found nowhere else on Earth. Whether hiking the peaks and canyons, or kayaking through sea caves girls will learn a greater appreciation for the natural world and the diversity it holds within. In this amazing outdoor classroom, we'll have a chance to explore, dream, and discover.
When: July 15-21, 2012
Funding: A scholarship of $500 will cover approximately 1/3 of the event fee of $1650 for girls. The girls will need to cover the balance and the travel expenses to get to and from the event. Additional need based funding is available by contacting ATS for possible financial assistance form.

Girls will need to complete the destinations application that is available on the destinations website are due to ATS by Wednesday, February 29. If the destination is not full, ATS will continue to accept applications until June 1st. Applicants will be notified of their status by Friday March 1st .
San Juan Kayak:
What: The San Juan Kayak Pack is a travel opportunity (destination) where Girl Scouts ages 15-18 come together to explore the San Juan Island chain off the coast of Washington. This archipelago that forms Pudget Sound is home to hundreds of apple species including several pods of Orca whales. Each summer we explore the island chain by kayak while looking for these elusive and beautiful mammals while also enjoying crystal clear waters, amazing sunsets, and lots of fresh berries.
When: July 29-Aug 4, 2012

Wildlife Wonders:
Perfect for girls Interested in the Environment, Ecology, Wildlife biology and Natural History:
What: Wyoming's Wildlife Wonders is a travel opportunity (destination) where Girl Scouts ages 13-15 travel to Wyoming to study the ecology and natural history of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Girl Scouts hike, canoe, and trek through the Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Teens observe wildlife, explore careers that promote sustainable ecosystems, and take action by developing an environmental project to implement back home in their community. Girls across the nation will come together for a week at the Teton Science Schools to learn in an amazing environment about nature, each other and themselves.
When: July 22-28, 2012
Funding: GSUSA has a wonderful opportunity for girls to receive scholarship funding from Elliott Wildlife Values Project for the Wyoming’s Wildlife Wonders destination. A scholarship of $400 will cover nearly 1/2 of the event fee of $898 for girls ages 13-15. The girls will need to cover travel expenses to get to and from the event.
