Special Agent Girl Scouts
The Cadette program will cover several fundamental forensic science concepts. Topics will include classification invention, where students will observe fingerprint patterns and attempt to devise a classification system and apply it. Then students will learn the actual fingerprint classification system and use it to classify their own fingerprints. Next students will learn how to develop latent print evidence with a magnetic powder applicator and magnetic powder. Finally, students will make impressions of some very unique objects in order to study and understand the physical features that allow these objects to be distinguished from one another. This program minimizes lecture and places an emphasis on hands-on laboratory exercises. Cadettes will earn the Special Agent badge.
This program will be held at the WVU Forensic Science Training Complex which is located at 383 Oakland Street, Morgantown,West Virginia 26505.
Participants will be working in a laboratory and proper attire is required: close toed shoes, long pants, a long sleeve shirt, long hair must be secured behind the head with a rubber band or scrunchie.
No food is provided at the event. Girl Scouts will need to bring a bagged lunch. There is a Pizzeria located near the complex. Nut products are prohibited due to allergies.
