Service Unit/Community Volunteer Recognition
Showing appreciation for one another is a good way to show respect, relate to each other’s strengths and build mutual commitment. Recognition awards allow us to show our immense gratitude to the volunteers whose service goes above and beyond and whose contributions are significant.
Outstanding Leader Award – This award is given only once to recognize outstanding troop leadership in the delivery of Girl Scout program to girls, meriting recognition by geographic/service team.
Outstanding Volunteer Award – This award is given only once to an adult in a position other than a troop leader for service to a geographic area or program delivery audience that is beyond the expectations for the position.

Applications for awards which must be approved by the Council are due to the Service Unit Recognition group by JANUARY 15.
Thanks Badge II - To recognize continued outstanding service to the ENTIRE COUNCIL by a prior Thanks Badge recipient. Procedures are the same as for the Thanks Badge II. Access the Thanks Badge II form.
Black Diamond Pin -
Progressive Volunteer Award - Is a registered adult involed in Girl Scouting at the council or national level on a continual or on-going basis. These awards recognize current service and may not be awarded for service given before September 2005. The criteria for this recognition is included on the application form. Short Term Volunteer Award - Is a registered adult who become involved in Girl Scouting on a local or national level as times permits. GSUSA has developed three awards to recognize the Short Term Volunteer. The information for these three awards is included in the application form. Access the Short Term Volunteer Award form.
Council Earned Recognition Award
The Leadership Development Pin recognizes adult troop/group leaders, assistant troop/group leaders, or group coordinators who demonstrate competence, continuous improvement, and participate in training in subject areas that will increase their skills in working with girls. It is earned for completion of the basic criteria for leadership and additional training is recognized with leaves. View the Leadership Development Earned Recognition Guidelines and Application.
